About Cognihealth โ
Care Built from Personal Experience
Founded by a family caregiver. Guided by compassion. Cognihealth is a licensed San Diego home care agency built on one family's decade-long experience caring for a loved one with dementia, and a belief that every family deserves the support we once struggled to find.
Our Story
Why Cognihealth Was Founded
Cognihealth was born from a deeply personal journey. Our founder, Rachel Berthoumieux, spent more than 10 years as the primary caregiver for her mother, who lived with dementia. Through that experience, she witnessed firsthand how difficult it is to find care that is not only reliable and professional, but genuinely compassionate and consistent.
She saw families struggle with agencies that overpromised and underdelivered, caregivers who lacked proper training, and a system that too often treated vulnerable people as cases rather than individuals with full, rich lives deserving of respect and dignity.
Cognihealth was created to be the agency she wished had existed. Every caregiver selected, every care plan designed, and every family relationship built is guided by the belief that exceptional home care is not just about completing tasks. It is about preserving dignity, building trust, and ensuring that no family faces the challenges of caregiving alone.
Today, Cognihealth serves families throughout San Diego County, bringing that founding purpose to every client with the privilege of caring for them.
"We honor the person behind the diagnosis and care for them with the same tenderness we would want for someone we love."

Our Mission
To provide the highest quality in-home care that honors the dignity, independence, and individuality of every client: delivered by carefully trained caregivers who approach every visit with skill, compassion, and genuine human connection.
We go beyond traditional caregiving by building relationships, supporting families, and bringing consistency and reliability to a role that demands all three.

Compassion
Every act of care comes from the heart. We do not just care for clients. We care for people, families, and the moments that matter most.
Integrity
We honor our commitments with honesty and transparency. Families trust us with the people they love most, and we take that trust seriously every day.
Excellence
Every detail matters: from matching the right caregiver to maintaining consistent communication. We hold ourselves to a standard that reflects the importance of the work.
Respect
We protect dignity and privacy in every interaction. Every client receives care that honors who they are, not just what they need.
