What Home Care Means

A nurse with dark skin and braided hair smiling beside an elderly woman with white hair in a nursing uniform, both looking at the camera.

Home care services are non-medical services and assistance provided by a Registered Home Care Aide to individuals who, because of advanced age or physical or mental disability, need help with daily activities.
Services can include: bathing, exercising, making telephone calls, meal planning and preparation, dressing, positioning, transferring, ambulating, feeding, companionship, housekeeping, laundry, personal hygiene and grooming, transportation, shopping for personal care items or groceries, and incontinence care, assisting with medication that the client self-administers, correspondence, medication reminders and other daily activities.

Who it helps most:

  • Seniors wishing to age in place

  • Adults recovering from illness or surgery

  • Individuals with disabilities or chronic conditions

  • Families needing respite or part-time help
