Why Cognihealth

Why Caregivers Choose Cognihealth

Cognihealth is not a staffing agency. We are a close-knit team of people who take the work of caregiving seriously, believing that a well-supported caregiver provides better care. Here is what that looks like in practice.

🗓️

Flexible Scheduling

We work with your availability, not the other way around. Whether you are looking for part-time hours, full-time shifts, or overnight care, Cognihealth builds schedules that fit your life.

🚗

Mileage and HCA Registration Reimbursement

When assignments require travel beyond your regular local area, mileage is reimbursed. Cognihealth also reimburses the HCA registration fee required through the California Department of Social Services, because the cost of becoming a qualified caregiver should not be a barrier to joining our team.

🤝

Supportive Team Culture

Cognihealth is locally owned and operates with a genuine team mentality. You will have direct access to coordinators who know your name, know your clients, and are available when you need support.

🌱

Meaningful Work

Cognihealth serves families navigating some of the most difficult chapters of their lives. The work is demanding, and it is among the most meaningful work you can do. Our caregivers consistently tell us that caring for a client with dementia is work they are proud of.

😊

The Happy Caregiver Model

Cognihealth is built on a simple belief: a happy caregiver provides better care. That means we listen, we respond, we match you with clients who are a good fit, and we make sure you feel supported, not just scheduled. When our caregivers thrive, our clients thrive.

📈

Opportunities for Advancement

Cognihealth is a growing agency with expanding opportunities. Caregivers who demonstrate skill, reliability, and commitment have pathways to take on more responsibility, work with higher-acuity clients, and grow within the organization as Cognihealth grows.

🏆

Competitive Pay and Recognition

Cognihealth compensates caregivers competitively, reflecting the skill, professionalism, and commitment we expect from our team. Beyond base pay, we recognize the people who go above and beyond. Excellence does not go unnoticed here. We believe the caregivers who work hardest deserve to be acknowledged and rewarded for it.

"Cognihealth's caregivers are the heart of what we do. Every family we serve trusts us to send someone exceptional, and we take that responsibility seriously. We invest in our caregivers because they deserve it, and because our clients depend on it."

— Rachel, Cognihealth

Caregiver Credentialing

What We Look For in a Cognihealth Caregiver

Cognihealth maintains high standards for every caregiver we place. The following credentials and requirements apply to all Cognihealth caregivers. If you are working toward any of these, we encourage you to apply. We will guide you through the process.

📋

HCA Registration

California Home Care Aide (HCA) registration is required through the California Department of Social Services (CDSS). This state registration confirms you are authorized to provide non-medical in-home care in California.

🔍

Background Check

A thorough background screening is required for all caregivers before placement. This is a firm standard. The families we serve are trusting us to send people of good character and proven reliability.

🩺

TB Test

A current tuberculosis (TB) test is required. This protects the health of our clients, many of whom are medically vulnerable seniors.

🚗

Valid Driver's License

A valid California driver's license is required. Many Cognihealth clients rely on their caregivers for transportation to medical appointments, errands, and community activities.

🧠

Dementia Care Experience

Prior experience caring for individuals with Alzheimer's, dementia, or cognitive decline is strongly preferred. Cognihealth provides comprehensive in-house dementia training, but hands-on experience and genuine empathy are qualities we look for in every candidate.

💛

Compassion and Reliability

Beyond Beyond credentials, Cognihealth values caregivers who are genuinely caring, consistently reliable, and committed to treating every client with dignity and respect. Character is as important as credentials.

3

Credentialing and Background Check

We will verify your HCA registration, driver's license, and TB test, and conduct a thorough background screening. If you need assistance with any credential, our team will guide you through the process.

4

Required Training: 5-Hour Initial Home Care and Dementia Care Program

All new Cognihealth caregivers complete the required 5-hour initial home care training plus our in-house dementia care program at no cost. Training covers home care fundamentals, Alzheimer's and dementia care, memory care communication techniques, sundowning management, safety and fall prevention, and behavioral support strategies.

5

Caregiver-Client Matching

Cognihealth matches caregivers with clients based on personality, skills, schedule, and care needs. A good match makes the work more meaningful for the caregiver and more effective for the client.

6

First Shift and Ongoing Support

Your first shift is supported by a Cognihealth coordinator who is available if any questions arise. Ongoing support, check-ins, and direct access to the Cognihealth team throughout your time with us.
